ANIMAL HEALTH ALERT: Canine Influenza H3N2 diagnosed in local dog in the San Gabriel Valley  


Bonnie Werner Murphy, DVM, DACVIM

Dr. Werner went to veterinary school at Davis, worked at the Torrance Emergency Clinic during her internship with Coast Pet Clinic in Hermosa Beach in 1990, and completed her residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at Louisiana State University. 

She achieved board certification with the College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1995.  Dr. Werner owned a specialty practice in Los Angeles until 2005 and then brought her Internal Medicine expertise to Thousand Oaks and Santa Barbara.   We are pleased to welcome her back to the South Bay.

Dr. Werner has a special interest in endocrinology (including Cushing’s disease, Addison’s disease, diabetes mellitus, and thyroid disorders); pancreatitis and gastrointestinal diseases; infectious diseases (including tick-borne diseases and fungal infections); oncology; burn patients; and heart disease.  Dr. Werner is proficient in endoscopy and cardiac and abdominal ultrasound.

Dr. Werner enjoys teaching and has taught Internal Medicine to 4th year veterinary students from Western University and has supervised interns from across the country for many years.  She has also enjoyed judging science fairs at the elementary school level.

Dr. Werner lives with her family on a small ranch; her menagerie includes 2 sons and a herd of Chincoteague ponies.  In her leisure time, she enjoys gardening and cooking and always likes to relax with a good crossword puzzle.
